Started Planning a Hunting Trip

I have just got started planning a trip to the Rockies in North Dakota. I am going to do a little elk hunting, but I am not quite sure that I have quite the rifle for the job. Of course elk hunting is usually done at extreme ranges, usually you are going to find a vantage point and wait for a herd of elk to come into range. I went around looking for the right rifle and I found one that was exactly right. It had an eight round cartridge holder on the butt stock and it was obviously the exact sort of thing that I needed. However the guy who owned it was pretty determined to get as much for it as it would have cost new. Of course I can buy a new rifle for what he wanted me to pay, or at least it would not have been enough less for it to have made any sense. So I went ahead and started looking at gun shops in town and I found a reasonable deal at the place that sells guns to the police.

Of course this shop really only deals with sworn peace officers, but that is not that big of a deal. So long as I have a valid gun license they do not care if I go in with one of my friends from the county sheriff’s office. It is not much of a hurry either, I am not going to be leaving on this trip for at least a month and a half. You have to take care of a lot of other things like hunting licenses before you can take off on a trip like this. You need to find the right guide, because you are not going to get a second chance if you pick the wrong guy.
