Use It on the Side of the Road

I had a very nice childhood and I say that because now that I am older and talk to people my age, I realize that we had a lot more than other people did while we were growing up. I said to my brother that we had really good childhoods and I think that he also sees the differences, too. I knew that we had billboards owned by my dad and companies like boulevard 88 would actually go and pay money to have my dad and his workers go up high on the ladders and climb all the way up to the sign on the side of the highway. My brother used to go up and help him around eleven because he liked heights, but even as I type this and think about climbing all the way up, I get really nervous and my hands start to sweat. I think that it is really embarrassing, but I don’t think that everyone around me notices when my hands sweat like now, because I am still typing pretty fast and accurately.

I sometimes feel bad when I hear that some of my friends as adults did not have a lot of food in their house growing up, and I really have nothing to offer them as a consolation that I also had the same type of childhood so I often say something like I am sorry, Is there something that is better to say than others? I would never say something like that is terrible, because that sounds mean. I always try to find the right things to say but that does not always go my way and my friends and my family will tell you that, but I am OK with being myself and trying the best I can every single moment.
