Why Traditional Chinese Medicine Works

Do you know what TCM is? I had a vague idea of it when I first made an appointment for a TCM clinic in Singapore. I had done a cursory search online just to make sure that I would be okay with going there in the first place. While I was waiting to be seen, I was able to talk to an older man in the waiting room, and he could not say enough good things about Traditional Chinese Medicine when he found out it was my first time there.

I had been looking at it strictly from a medical point of view, but that brief chat made me realize that it is so much more than that. It is about the life force that surrounds every single one of us. There are different focuses when it comes to Traditional Chinese Medicine, but there are just a few main ones.

Looking at the body as a whole is the top one. Every part of our body is related to other parts. It is important to look at the body as a whole rather than just parts. Also, nature is a very important part of Traditional Chinese Medicine. We are connected to nature, and the time of day is just as important as the season. It all works together to give us the best health that we can have.

Our bodies also heal themselves. Doctors do not heal us, our bodies do. Doctors can tell us what we need, but it is our bodies that do all of the work. That is why Traditional Chinese Medicine focuses on these main focuses. Also, being proactive is also taught. It is easier to catch something before it happens than after. Taking care of ourselves in the best way possible can do more good than I ever knew!
