My Boys Needed Physics Tutoring

I did some research on physics tuition because I knew that my twin sons needed a boost in that area to make it more interesting for them. They were doing okay in their physics class in high school, but we are not a family that maintains mediocrity. Rather, we excel at anything and everything we do, because none of us really see the point of putting in only partial effort. The boys told me that they would not even have taken that class if they had known how boring it would have been for them.

That about floored me, because physics has always fascinated me. I could not believe that my offspring did not feel the same way. When I asked them what physics means to them, all they could really tell me was it is boring learning about string theory. I asked them what else physics means to them, and they really could not tell me much more. (more…)

Tree-Lined Driveway Needed Some Housekeeping

The road in our little neighborhood is not maintained by the state, and we do not have a lot in the way of local help. We pretty much take care of things on our own. Our driveway is just off of this road, and it is lined with giant trees. When a storm brought done two of them together across our driveway and out into the road, I decided to call a Nassau County tree removal service to get rid of them and look at the rest of the trees.

I did not have a budget for this. Since there was no structural damage to anything, I figured our insurance would not cover a nickel of it. (more…)
