When I graduated, I lived at home with my parents while I searched for the perfect job. Once I landed a job, I was really excited to get my own place. I’m all for doing really well at whatever a person does. I work hard, and I don’t have a lot of trouble with being tempted too much by idle things when I know there is work to be done. It is very common in my country for people to work beyond their scheduled hours. I was ready for that. However, I was not reading for never being home. As soon as I found out, I wondered how I would ever have time to date anyone and find a spouse. I also knew that if I stayed there, working such long hours would mean that my future spouse would be stuck taking care of our future child all by herself each day.
I want to earn good money, but I don’t think it’s right to expect workers to work such long hours with no extra pay. If you want workers to be onsite for such a long period of time, pay them appropriately for that time. If you don’t, that’s just morally wrong. The good thing is that I have someone coming over to my place to help keep it clean each week. That means that when I am home, I can concentrate on job hunting so that I can find a better career where people are treated with respect.
